It's been so long... So here's a Raygun!

Sorry it's been sooo long!! 

I was talking to my hairdresser about my blog and realized I haven't touched it in some time (I'm terrible at this). Been in school and working and I loose track of these things - yeesh! 

This was done in one of my Maya classes. It was my very first time doing something in Maya and I was very pleased with the outcome. 

I promise I'll start posting once a week now. ;)

The Don't Like ABCs - ArtD 150 - Book

Above are two final pages of my book project (for my ArtD 150 final).

I had a lot of fun with this one.

Unfortunately I did not finish all the illustrations but will continue to work on this piece for publication. :)

***Update*** 4/16/13
I have decided (at the urging of friends/family) to add a watermark and my blog web address to the images. 
I am working on finishing this book and hope to have it refined & finished this summer!!! :)

Project 3 - Off to the printer...

Here is the final result for Project 3.

I could have worked on it a lot longer- but the deadline for the printer forced me to find an end point.

I'll post a pic of it hanging up printed on canvas once I receive it in the mail.

I am very curious how the color and brush technique will show up on a canvas print.

Overall pretty happy with it.

So, here are my project 2 images... again, my computer is not my friend right now. It's freezing and not saving things the way I want it to and has just made these last 2 exercises endless...

I realize I didn't get a chance to critique other projects or have mine critiqued in time. This is the fall out of having a sick day and missing class. 

I sketched out a few ideas first as I am more of a hands on type- but that meant I had to fuss with it a lot to get it to work in the computer. Below is a picture of a couple of the sketches...

My word is evolve: to develop gradually from a simple to a more complex form.

This feels a little too obvious a design for me. I was suffering from some major creative block this week and I wished I had picked a different word... but I ended up sticking with this one. I had already put so much time into thinking it out and my time and outside forces where constraining my options.

I think I could have really benefited from getting some critique... and the use of a more cooperative computer. I did learn a lot from all the re-do I experienced though...

The scanning and photo montage exercises are above. I'm a bit late but I thought I would mess around with it anyway since it is good practice.

I scanned one of my drawings, adjusted it with levels, and used a photo I pulled of the Internet of balloons. Flipped the photo around and did some layering and coloring with fx added to the layers. I also replaced the lettering in the cake.

A bit simple but it's been a while since I've messed around with photoshop so it's good practice.

I like the blue one since it has more harmony.

Ink Dragon

Finally inked in my silly little dragon... ;)

Some stuff to start me off....

So I'm finally kicking my butt into the blogosphere...

This is a sketch for a project I did in school (My 1st digital illustration class). We where making our own Ghastlycrumb Tinies Illustrations.

The final colored version of the project ( M - is for Maud who was swept out to sea...).
